Carl Radke, a star from “Summer House,” has retracted a previous statement where he compared the difficulty of his breakup with ex-fiancée Lindsay Hubbard to the pain of his brother’s death, clarifying that the public nature of the breakup was exceptionally hard but not comparable to the loss of his brother. Radke and Hubbard’s engagement and subsequent split, set to be featured in season 8 of “Summer House,” has been a significant emotional challenge for him, but he emphasized that the loss of his brother remains the hardest day of his life.
“Summer House” star Carl Radke retracts his statement comparing his breakup with ex-fiancée Lindsay Hubbard to the pain of his brother’s death, clarifying the unique challenges of experiencing a breakup publicly and apologizing for any hurt caused by his comparison.
Carl Radke from *Summer House* is revisiting a past statement about his breakup. He’s clarifying something he said at BravoCon. It was about his split from Lindsay Hubbard, his ex-fiancée.
“I made a comment,” Carl begins. He thought the breakup was tougher than his brother’s death. But, he admits, that wasn’t accurate.
Carl, who’s 39, opened up to *Us Weekly*. He was promoting the eighth season of the Bravo series. The public nature of the breakup, he explains, made things incredibly tough.
There were confusing rumors. And endless back-and-forth. Going through a breakup publicly? Carl finds it really, really hard.
His brother, Curtis Radke, died in August 2020. It was an accidental overdose. Carl calls it “arguably the hardest day” of his life.
He’s sorry. If his comparison hurt anyone, he apologizes. The breakup was hard, no doubt. But Carl would give anything to have his brother back.
Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke, oh, the journey they’ve had. From breakups to makeups and then some. They were part of the original *Summer House* cast.
Their engagement ended in August 2023. *Us* had confirmed their engagement just a year before. Their split will unfold in season 8 of *Summer House*.
A teaser for the new season dropped. Carl shares his concerns with Lindsay. “You’re really gifted at playing victim,” he tells her.
Carl’s stepdad, Lou, had his say too. He’s been a minister his whole career. But he wouldn’t marry Carl and Lindsay.
Carl felt a “relief” when the teaser came out. It was surreal, he said, to rewatch those moments. He denies calling producers to film their breakup.
Lindsay had claimed Carl set up the cameras. She felt blindsided and humiliated. Carl insists that’s not the reality he lived.
The cast of *Summer House* has a tangled web of romances. Lindsay, Carl, Luke Gulbranson, and others have dated their co-stars. Their love lives are as complex as they are public.
Carl and Lindsay? They’ve texted since the breakup. But they’re not really talking now. It’s emotional, Carl admits.
He respects the sanctity of engagement and marriage. He hopes they both find happiness. Carl believes they’re better off going separate ways.
*Summer House* is back on Bravo. It premieres Thursday, February 22, at 9 p.m. ET. Christina Garibaldi contributed to the report.
