An American self-help author and speaker, he is best known for The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People (1989). His other published works include First Things First (1994) and Quest: The Spiritual Path to Success (1997).
Stephen Covey was born in Salt Lake City. He received degrees in business administration from the University of Utah (BS) and Harvard University (MBA). A devout Mormon, he also received a Doctor of Religious Education degree from Brigham Young University. He taught at Utah State University for the final two years of his life (he was killed in a cycling accident in 2012).
