Shannon Beador is openly working on her personal growth following a DUI arrest last year, engaging in therapy and working with a psychiatrist, aiming to turn a negative situation into a positive one. She acknowledges the severity of her actions, expressing gratitude that no one was harmed, and is committed to lifelong improvement and focusing on a relationship with herself.
Shannon Beador is actively working on her personal growth and addressing her issues with alcohol as a coping mechanism after a DUI arrest, emphasizing her commitment to creating positivity from a challenging situation and her journey towards a healthier path with the help of therapy and a psychiatrist.
Shannon Beador’s opening up. She’s spilling the beans on her journey of self-improvement post-DUI arrest last year. "I’ve done a lot and I still have more to do," she admits. That was her exclusive spill to Us Weekly just before the Real Housewives of Orange County season 18 premiere hit the screens.
Therapy over rehab, she chose. Why? Alcohol was her "coping mechanism," she realized. At her DUI time, life was a bit of a mess, what with her youngest, Stella, flying the nest for college. It was tough.
"I don’t want to take what happened lightly," she reflects. Because, honestly, she could’ve hurt someone. That’s a heavy thought.
Oh, and guess what? Bravo’s shaking things up for season 18 of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Taylor Armstrong’s out. After just one season, she’s said her goodbyes. From The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills to a brief stint in Orange County, what a journey, huh?
Shannon’s just grateful, incredibly so. Grateful that her accident didn’t hurt anyone. Not even Archie, her dog, who was with her in the car. "I made a horrible choice," she confesses. And now? She’s on a mission to change, to do the work. Even if it’s lifelong. And relationships? She’s taking a break from those to focus on herself.
Us confirmed in September 2023 that Beador faced a hit-and-run and a DUI arrest. Newport Beach saw her driving erratically, leading to misdemeanors. She even drove onto someone’s property, trying to park. When cops showed up, she was out with Archie, not "fake-walking" him but "going back to take accountability."
Post-arrest, Beador faced three years probation, fines, a nine-month alcohol program, and 40 hours of community service. Accountability’s been her mantra since. Even at BravoCon, she faced the music, addressing her actions head-on.
Real Housewives isn’t all glam. Legal troubles? They’ve had their share. From fraud cases to bankruptcy filings, it’s been a ride. Beador knew she had to face the music, to be transparent about her "horrible decision."
At first, she wasn’t sure about her RHOC costars’ support. But eventually, they came through.
Season 18 of The Real Housewives of Orange County? It’s set to premiere on Bravo. New episodes will hit Peacock the day after airing.
