He received the 1976 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics, as well as the National Medal of Science and the Presidential Medal of Freedom (both in 1988).

He went on to attend the University of Chicago’s graduate program in economics. He was a Keynesian economist, and is considered the most influential economist after Keynes himself.
