Celebrity parents Kristin Cavallari and Sarah Michelle Gellar have shared how their children discovered their TV projects, with Cavallari admitting she cringed watching her shows with her kids and Gellar taking a slow approach to showing her kids “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
Celebrity parents Kristin Cavallari and Sarah Michelle Gellar have opened up about their children’s thoughts on their past television projects. Cavallari, known for her appearances on MTV’s Laguna Beach and The Hills, shared that her three children have discovered the shows. She told Us Weekly in November 2020 that her ex-husband, Jay Cutler, had put it on, and although she was cringing the whole time, her children only watched a couple of minutes. She added that she does not plan on showing her kids the shows but is sure that they will come across them eventually. In December 2021, Cavallari noted that her career had not “really registered” with her family and that they do not see it as a big deal.
Gellar, who starred in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, revealed that she and husband Freddie Prinze Jr. have slowed down their household’s viewing of the show, choosing to “cherry-pick” episodes since their children are still young. The couple tied the knot in 2002 and welcomed two kids, Charlotte and Rocky. In July 2021, Gellar shared with Us Weekly that they had made it to season 5 but had gotten distracted by other shows. However, the New York native has continued to appreciate the show’s message and its use of metaphors to tackle the horrors of high school.
Both Cavallari and Gellar join other celebrity parents in sharing their past projects with their kids. However, they each highlight their children’s different reactions to their television projects. As for whether these kids will follow in their parents’ footsteps into the entertainment industry, only time will tell.
